Surgery Day

Surgery day...that was certainly a scary one. We were to be at the hospital by 6am... got on the road around 4:40 or so and it was really foggy. That kind of put a damper on the day. We ended up making it to the hospital on time. my surg was scheduled for 7:40 and i think by the time we got all settled and i was patiently getting “driven” to the OR on a stretcher, it was darn near that time. I got in for actual surgery at 8 am. i remember that the OR was very cold but the people in there were very nice. They said the surgery would take around 4 hours which I think it did. When I got back to the recovery room i was feeling quite swollen and uncomfortable. i was nauseous as well from the blood that was pooling in my sinuses as the surgeon cleaned my sinuses out. the nurses were alright (some of them) but most didn’t speak English and couldn’t figure out that when i press the “nurse” button and they answer with “what do you need?” that's not super helpful when you are unable to speak.  i also had a nurse who decided it was a good idea to clean me up.... meaning she cleaned my face right out of surgery... not fun! the night wasn’t too bad... Brandon stayed the night with me on a reclining chair and thank goodness he did. he is such a wonderful caregiver.
